  What a mess! We were hesitant to place our house in HCI's program because our house was only 6 months old and in immaculate condition. HCI will tell you whatever you want to hear to allow them to place "caretakers" in your home. We insisted on no pets and that whomever was in our house take great care of it. After 3 months and having to drop the price substantially, we finally accepted an offer $16,000 less than the appraisal. At the home inspection, the caretaker fraudulently claimed she was the homeowner and that the house had termites, which it did not. Then they refused to move out of the house for a couple of weeks. When we finally got our house back, it smelled like cheap perfume and dog waste. The downstairs and upstairs carpet had dog urine and feces stains, the carpet on the stairs had grease and dirt stains all over. There was supposed to have been one older woman living in our house and sleeping in the downstairs master bedroom. It was quite apparent from all the stains on the stairs and the upstairs carpet and bathroom that at least one other person was living there--and not living there gently.
  We were assured from the beginning that our house would be left in the same or better condition, which was not the case at all. I would never recommend anybody use HCI unless they are willing to go through the same nightmare we did with this company.
