One of the worst experience I've ever had with a business. If there was a negative -5 star rating I would've marked just that... It's truly is a pity as the selection and uniqueness of products definitely by far outshine the service and politeness of employee working there the day I happened to discover this market. I live in Naples and never have I ever been humiliated in such manner for no particular or apparent reason.
My visit was very short as I was in Tampa due to a mandatory evacuation during hurricane Irma and was hoping to get some groceries and things in hopes of supplying my stay while there.
Shortly after entering store and not being greeted by the individual behind the register I proceeded to the wine isle where I was approached by the aforementioned man who later identify himself as the *one in charge*. Although it took a while he finally decided to acknowledge my presence and asked whether I needed any help to which I replied that so far I was good and carried on with my wine selection. It was my first time there and I was taking longer than usual to make sure I won't miss anything.
Somehow I figured he was on his way to the back of the store. Little that I know he was breathing down my neck, - after sensing a disturbing presence a little bit too into my personal space, I shall say. He was standing right behind me trying to see what was inside my tote! I'm really not sure what kind of protocol allowed him to do that but he was implying that the bottle of kombucha I had with me from a dinner take out earlier was "stolen” and wanted me to empty my purse. At this point I was completely raging in indignation as I know from professional experience in surveillance and loss prevention - that is not how a situation like this should evolve.
Not really Sure what country is he from originally because his accent was very strong and difficult to understand but there was an instant that I dearly was afraid for my rights due to the chauvinistic approach and really wasn't sure whether his next thing was amputate my hands without any prove nor judgement. Thankfully a police officer was nearby outside and came inside at a perfect time to mend the disturbance. I have to be honest - out of disbelief, I did raise my voice and cursed a bit but in my defense they don't even carry the drink I had in my purse! I demanded to speak with a manager as he seemed to be reporting all his actions to someone through a cellphone to which he blatantly lied saying that he was the *Almighty Everything* there. Needless to say I left very upset, disappointed and frustrated. They definitely won't have my business ever at all and if such customer service is the norm for them then probably also none of many other people who've otherwise could potentially spend decent money to profit the store. Please beware, the self proclaimed owner stated that I was supposed to leave my bag at the ¡register! upon entering in order to avoid being searched. I haven't heard of such an obscene nonsense since I last lived in an underdeveloped country. I truly apologize for the sermon but this was very disrespectful and straight out ugly sticky situation to say the least.
